I was initially drawn to Joann’s Big Twist Party (A) because it was on sale for only $3 per skein (how can you pass that up?) and (B) because it’s incredibly soft.
This yarn is currently available in ten different variegated colorways. Most are bright spring/summer colors in shades of pink, orange, blue, and green. I was drawn to the ‘Lavender Bellini’ colorway which is a mix of lavender/purple, peachy orange, and white.
I thought this would be the perfect yarn to use for the Homebody Cardi pattern I recently purchased from The Cozy Knot. So far, Big Twist Party has been pretty enjoyable to work with and my project is moving along quickly due to the bulkiness of the yarn. The cardigan is mainly made up of double crochets and chain spaces that create a granny square look. I’m using a Susan Bates US J10/6.00 MM hook.
Here’s a sneak peek photo:
I only ran into a few minor issues so far. There have been a few spots throughout the skeins where the yarn is not twisted as tight, which can cause some splitting if you’re not careful. I also had one skein with three knots in it. This was not an issue with the other five skeins I purchased.
Overall, I would recommend Big Twist Party. Try it out while it’s still on sale for $3 at Joann. What do you think this yarn would be great for?
